My world in 2009: prelude

Want to try your hand at prophecy? On second thoughts, better leave that to God, as there are plenty of pundits and cranks who are always ready to voice their opinion or purvey their arcane knowledge.

And luckily, they're almost always more or less wrong in their gloomy predictions of mankind's immediate or ultimate predicament. How often haven't we heard about this or that comet that very likely may crash into the earth any given day, creating chaos and calamity? Or how often haven't we been told that that killer viruses may some day wipe out both animal and human life, taking us completely unawares? Or have you really missed the oddities coming from the adepts of one Nostradamus, who some claim has even foretold there will be a WW3?

Rest assured: you haven't seen the end of it yet. As long as history is an ongoing process that hasn't reached its conclusion, people will pop up out of nowhere sounding the alarm; not just once or twice, but until your head simply cannot absorb them anymore.

And the proper antidote to it all? Well, try munching for a while on this. I don't know who wrote this, but I certainly hold him or her to be in possession of both a sound heart and a sound mind:

"History isn't moving towards chaos, it's moving towards Christ". Of course I know you're not easily persuaded by this, if you're a sceptic by nature. Only let me try to reason with you in the weeks ahead. I do believe this quote to be true. And so, maybe, will you, after having read what will appear here sometime soon.
